LA Lakers vs Houston Rockets Preview and Prediction - November 07, 2013

Written By Emile on Thursday, November 7, 2013 | 7:23 AM

The Rockets take on the Lakers for the first time since Dwight Howard bolted from the City of Angels.

Now that the Rockets have played four games in five nights, it's nice that they get three days off to recover from a rough trek out West.

Nope they play tonight. Here comes the fifth game in seven nights for the Rockets. Let's run this sucker back.

The story tonight will be Dwight Howard taking on his former team. However, the Rockets can't worry about that. I get that Howard has to be thinking about it, but hopefully the Rockets win and remind Howard why he chose Houston.

The Lakers were dominated by the Mavericks on Tuesday night (123-104). All thirteen players played. And only two got garbage minutes. So the point here is that the Lakers will have an 11-man rotation and the Rockets will have an 8-man group. We'll see if that matters.

Get ready for some homer matchup analysis tonight.

Tip off is at 7:30pm CST.

Point Guard: Jeremy Lin vs. Steve Nash

Steve Nash is a legend. But he's getting old.

Jeremy Lin is playing very VERY well right now. He pulled the Rockets back against Utah and was a rock against the Blazers.

You wanted more homer? Well here we go.

Advantage: Even

Shooting Guard: James Harden vs. Steve Blake

But seriously Steve Blake is a fantastic basketball playahahahahahahahaha.

Advantage: Rockets

Small Forward: Chandler Parsons vs. Xavier Henry

I can't even...

Advantage: Rockets

Power Forward: Dwight Howard vs. I have no idea

Shawne Williams starts but barely plays.

The Lakers are short on bigs.

Advantage: Rockets

Center: Omer Asik vs. Pau Gasol

Gasol was -32 in 31 minutes of play against the Mavs. That's crazy for a future Hall of Famer, even if +/- is incredibly deceiving. A number that low is mind-blowing.

I expect Gasol to bounce back. He's too good and too dedicated to not play hard this season.

Imagine this: Gasol was almost a Rocket, and if he had been then there wouldn't be a Harden and Howard combination here.

Advantage: Lakers

Rockets: Francisco Garcia, Omri Casspi, Patrick Beverley

Lakers: Jordan Hill, Chris Kaman, Jordan Farmar, Wesley Johnson, Nick Young, Jodie Meeks

Advantage: Rockets, but I like some of those pieces for LA

Prediction: I wasn't enough of a homer last time. Rockets win 2000-12. Write it down.
