Having served Everton for 11 years as manager, David Moyes should come up against the Merseysiders the very first time on Wednesday evening since he left the club during the warm months to take power over Manchester United.

There won't happen to be many people when this occurs who would have predicted that Moyes's new side can be below his former team inside the Premier League table after 13 matches, but that's how they head into this encounter.

The Toffees, now managed by Roberto Martinez, will visit Old Trafford in fifth, while United are three places adrift in eighth.

It is not clear if Robin van Persie will come back to the United squad to the match, having sat out recent fixtures with groin and toe injuries.

However, Phil Jones will miss out because of suspension, which may see a 40-year-old Ryan Giggs recalled to midfield alongside either Tom Cleverley or Marouane Fellaini.

Meanwhile, Martinez has no new concerns for that match. Only recent injury absentees Darron Gibson, Arouna Kone and Leighton Baines are not available.

The visitors haven't won at Old Trafford since August 1992 when Peter Beardsley was one of many goalscorers in the 3-0 victory.
